Les Gites Fleuris - Local Villages

Nestled in the pretty Auvezere Valley are the local villages of St Agnan, Tourtoirac, and Hautefort. Your holiday house is located in the peaceful hamlet of “Les Broussilloux”,a perfect location to explore from.

An easy walk though the perigordian enclave down the back country road will take you to the little village of St Agnan, where you will find the conveniences of a bakery (boulangerie), a bank, a pizzeria & bar, and a church (eglise). During the summer months, St Agnan hosts many cultural events, such as musical concerts in the church and an outdoor Thursday evening fete (marchés nocturnes à St. Agnan), which includes a live band, food, and a marketplace. It’s a fun way for the family to spend an evening, and then stroll home under the stars.

A littler further walk away is the local supermarket grocery store. It has everything you need to cook your own gourmet meals, including many international foods.

Continue on and you will reach the town of Hautefort. The impressive castle is perched up on a hill, reminiscent of the royal palaces of the Loire Valley. It also has the conveniences of shops, restaurants, bars, tabac, and a post office. To help you plan your outings in the area, Hautefort has the Office of Tourism inside the Ancient Hospice building which also includes the Museum of Medicine (Musee de la Medecine).

The area also has many restaurants serving local specialties of pate de fois gras and canard dishes, walnuts, and the famous black truffle.

The lovely village of Tourtoirac is a 5 km drive away, where the ancient abbey just celebrated it's 1000 year birthday. The grotte at Tourtoirac opened in May 2010!
Also in the area are Horse back riding, Golf (Excideuil), Tennis/Basketball/Football (1 Km), Fishing and Bathing (1km), or take a hot air balloon ride over the Castle!
